Most Country Clubs require you to be at least 16 years ancient. You cant just show up as it is against club rules to make money off of their property, you have to be on thr payroll. You have to get interviewed and all that jazz. If it is a excellent club then expect to get payed around 340-400 a week plus tips if you work long and hard all week. The more you know about golf, the larger your tip will be. yes the caddy marks the scores. They wont do both most of the time.

The best place to inquire is at a private country club nearest your home. If they encourage caddies, you will be told all that you should know to do your job. That would include what you wear( comfortable shoes), where to stand . how to carry the bag, where the proper vantage point is on all the tough holes, when to hand the club to the player and so many more tips. Also, the fee will be discussed.

First, I commend you on the thought of getting a job at your age. Life a caddy on the other hand, might not be the best place to start with your limited knowledge of the game. The duties of a caddy is to carry the bag(s) of the assigned player(s). Yes, it is possible that two players will impart a caddy and that will be one HEAVY load. You will be here at each shot, be responsible for telltale the proper distance to the hole, front and back of the green, and the distance to reach or carry and hazards along the way. Clean their clubs after each shot (towl them off), retrieve wet balls, rake bunkers, remove/exchange the flag stick, etc. Expect that on a excellent day, you could do two loops (two 18 hole rounds.) Some guys get in three by getting the first round around 6AM, the following at 10 and the last at 3. REALLY excellent change if you can handle it.

    So, now for the rest.

See if anyone you know belongs to a local club to question for the interview. Be sure to check the state laws on minors working. VERY comfortable and supportive running/tennis shoes are the norm, pant will probably be chinos, and some type of club issued shirt.

I would HIGHLY suggest you read and absorb as much as you can about the game. A caddy who doesn’t both know the course and the game is just an pricey bell hop. Depending on the members, your scoring responsibilites might be negligible. It would be a excellent thought to keep track in case of any “discrepancies”.

On some courses a FORECADDY is sweet usefull and would be used as a target. This person shows where the players need to hit the ball and also marks where their ball is so that they can hit it again. (Yes, this does sound sweet perilous.)
