Is HONMA a good golf set ? what’s its rank in Golf Set Hierarchy ? can anyone help with this.?
I аm looking tο bυу a ехсеllеnt golf set, unfortunately I lost callaway tο a further customer аnd οnlу HONMA іѕ unfilled іn thе local shop here. I want tο know whether іt іѕ value tο bυу HONMA golf set fοr 500 bucks along wіth thе Golf Bag аnd οthеr accessories (Brаnd Nеw) .
Well, you will be pleased to know that here is no “Golf Set Hierarchy”, so you don’t need to worry about that. I’m not sure what “I lost callaway to a further customer” means, but Callaway clubs are readily unfilled in many golf shops as well as online.
I looked up information on the Honma clubs, and what is unfilled is vague and poorly written. I have no experience with these clubs, but if they fit you well, and if you hit the ball well with them, then for 500 bucks, go for it. I’d urge that you look for a more “traditional” brand that will stand behind it’s product, bought from a retailer like Golfsmith, Golf Galaxy, Rock Bottom Golf, etc.
I play in Los Angeles….and I see lots of Korean golfers playing with them. For Koreans, for some reason, they are a status symbol. I reflect they are made in Korea.
Clubs are a personal thing. Go and hit ‘em. If you like ‘em – buy ‘em.
Well rectification Father K, Honma made in Japan. The reason why Asian golf players pride themselves carrying honma set is probably they are the most pricey golf set in the world.
Their cheapest iron set is probably over 1000 us dollars, but they have this habbit of reducing the price by half after the model come out for about a year.
I own some of the Honma woods and they are sweet excellent. The only reason Honma is not very well loved is because they don’t hire any pro to play with their equipments, they want to hit the top prestige market you see. While I bought the Honma woods, I made enquiry about Honma blades (which was the cheapest set they have for irons). I tried to bargain, and they declined very politely saying that Honma does not sponsor any pro??!??
Their most pricey iron set I’ve seen cost more than USD 50,000 for 8-9 pieces of iron, and their driver was about 2500 dollars (per one piece of woods!). I questioned them why these were so pricey, and they showed me their special set of irons were sticked as hollow space with 18 karat gold!!!
For Asians, Honma set is more like ornament than golf equipment.
Honma set often meant to be pricey gift set for VIP.
They do make serious equipment though.
I played with Honma clubs last year when I was in Japan. While they were Ok , I inquired into buying a set for my brother in law………Needless to say he plays Taylormade still today. They are seriously over priced. I would not call them inferior at all. But I do reflect here are much better clubs unfilled to buy that won’t place you in debt until you are drawing Social Security.
